Let's discover What-If…

The Market Transformation Programme develops policy strategies that improve the resource efficiency of domestic and commercial products.
The What-If? Tool presents headline data on the potential impacts of these market transformation strategies to:
  • inform policy discussions and government decisions;
  • facilitate the data and information exchange;
  • provide an opportunity to cross-check and challenge data & assumptions.
For each product there are three alternative scenarios setting out the projected energy consumption:
  • Reference Scenario estimates and aggregates the impact of existing policy measures, superimposed on underlying market trends, on the stock, performance and use of products;
  • Earliest Best Practice Scenario indicates what could happen if the market was to adopt the most cost-effective options;
  • Policy Scenario estimates the effects of an ambitious but feasible programme of policy measures.
The data presented in this tool should be used in conjunction with Policy Briefs and Briefing Notes located on www.mtprog.com which provide further details about the scenarios and their underlying assumptions.
